David Masondo of Soul Brothers has died aged 67 years old

David Masondo the lead singer of Soul Brothers has died aged 67 years old, this was confirmed by his family through his manager, Bhodloza Nzimande, to eNews Channel Africa (eNCA).

David MasondoDavid Masondo died on Sunday afternoon of July 5, 2015 at the Garden City Hospital in the city Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa.

His band, the Soul Brothers, released a statement through their Facebook page which read, “It is very sad to announce that the main man, the anchor man, the lead singer of our band, has passed on today at the age of 67.”

It has been reported that David Masondo had previously had to be rushed to hospital following an energetic in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

“Age is not on his side, running around a lot during a performance is not good for him, after the performances he was weak and tired so we took him to hospital,” the band management said.

The Soul Brothers originate in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa where they formed in 1974.

According to http://www.music.org.za/ David Masondo was one of three original members of the group when it first formed.

Down the years the group recorded over 30 albums and sold over three million copies worldwide.
